Match Funding Appeal to raise £4,000 in March

Oxfordshire Badger Group needs your help to raise £4000 before the end of March.
Help to provide a safe home for wild life on Cumnor Hill

We are crowdfunding to preserve this Ancient Wood on Cumnor Hill. Oxfordshire Badger Group purchased the  Copse in 2022 with the help of a trustee loan. We have paid back two thirds  and now need  urgently to raise the remaining £9,000.  Any money raised after we have repaid the loan will be used to support our long term conservation project and ensure the Copse always remains undeveloped and is a safe haven for nature.

This precious ancient woodland is on Cumnor Hill close to Oxford City is in an area that is being heavily developed.Owning Old Hutchcomb’s Copse means we can be  certain that this important  habitat will never be developed or exploited. It also means that we can:

• Put nature first and provide a safe haven for wildlife
• Conserve the  ancient woodland through light touch, sensitive management aimed at increasing biodiversity
• Hold community and educational events 'In the Wild Wood'
• Offer  volunteers the opportunity to enjoy taking part in woodland conservation

MATCH FUNDING

From now till the end of March every pound donated to the Old Hutchcomb’s Copse Conservation Appeal will be doubled thanks to a generous supporter who has  pledged £2000 in matched funding. Any gifts given after this total is raised or after 31st March won’t be matched, but will still be put to good use.

Your contribution - no matter the size – can have double the impact if you donate before the end of March. We hope to raise at least £4,000 this month.

Option to Adopt a 'Square for Life' in Old Hutchcomb's Copse
If you can give a little more we'd like to make a special THANK YOU and offer a personalised adoption certificate for  3x3m What3Words square in Old Hutchcomb's Copse. It can be in your name or a loved one.

We ask for a suggested minimum donation of £50 to adopt a randomly chosen 'Square for Life' and suggest a minimum £100 if you want to chose a 'special place' in the copse. The pictures below link to our Copse website adoption page..

This Match Funding Conservation Appeal is organised by  Oxfordshire Badger Group (reg. charity Eng & Wales 1186850) . We are a small, local, long established environmental charity run entirely by volunteers with no paid staff. Owning and managing the Copse is very important undertaking for us. We are 100% committed  to ensuring the conservation of such an important  ancient woodland on Cumnor Hill.

And finally ...be assured  that if we are unable to continue the conservation project for any reason, we will spend any remaining donations on the protection of badgers and conservation of their habitats in Oxfordshire. We will give TOP PRIORITY to ensuring the Copse remains in safe hands and is permanently protected from development or inappropriate use.
